Posted October 24th, 2007 by sbaptistYou know how when you create an online account these days, there's an image and you're supposed to type what you see? I finally got around to creating a Slashdot account and got the following message (twice!!):
You failed to confirm you are a human. Please double-check the image and make sure you typed in what it says.
Maybe I'm NOT a human (or not a very smart one).
How FAR Has FED FLOSS Come?
Posted October 2nd, 2007 by sbaptistCame across an interesting article about the current state of FLOSS (Free-Libre/Open Source Software) in terms of Federal government official procurement policies. (My view first: FLOSS should simply be subject to the same policies as any other type of software, not more and not less. What that means is that some FLOSS will "win" others will "lose" in exactly the same way as proprietary software does.)
